Going on An Adventure Part 2 (In which I arrive at music camp, cannot find a coffee maker in my apartment, and post meloncholy songs about missing NYC)

Late Saturday afternoon I arrived at Camp and was plunged into a unique world of cape dresses, button-down the front shirts (yes, there is a dress code) and four part hymn singing. Upon arriving at the camp I registered with these nice people and received all the information I would need for the week.

Saturday evening there was a reception with food and the inevitable get-to-know-you games…despite my introverted personality, I did survive it all and actually managed to meet some very nice people! It was also fun renewing old acquaintances of choir directors that I used to sing under years ago!

Sunday morning a ghastly thing happened! I frantically searched the apartment for a coffee pot and came up with nothing!! Needless  to say, this was unacceptable so I hunted down the friendly neighborhood gas station of which I think I shall be frequenting in the days to come…

Sunday morning we all met for church in the gym and Sunday evening we attended a community hymn sing at a large church about twenty minutes away. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the concept, a hymn sing is basically where a bunch of us (Anabaptists) get together and sing hymns out of special songbooks…

Today was our first full day of classes and rehearsals. They keep us pretty busy, but I will attempt to get more pictures and interesting tid-bits up on the blog here. However, tonight finds me with a meloncholy missing of my beloved Brooklyn and a wishing to be home, so I shall attempt to make myself feel better and leave you with a picture of my city and an appropriately meloncholy song…

Shalom, friends!
